Are You Finishing Well This School Year?

I worked in a school for several years. There were certain times of the year that the Teachers and assistants dreaded. They were right before vacation, during testing time, and the end of the year.

Everyone, including the Teachers were tired and ready for a break. The students had been working hard and were getting bored or antsy. You know what happens when you are in a roomful of restless, frustrated, and tired children or teenagers. let’s just say, it is NOT good!

It is that time of year, where finals are taking place and you are finishing up projects, along with any other work that needs to be made up from absences.

I know you are feeling weary and worn, ready to escape this prison you feel you are in.

I want to encourage you today!!

Did you know it matters to God how we finish our school year?

He desires that we run with excellence and perseverance until the very end.

Hebrews 12:1-2 says: “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Maybe it seems like it is dragging on forever. You finish one project and you are on to the next.

You could be a person who doesn’t put in much effort and you just want to be done because what does it matter.

It matters to God!

Did you know that when you share with others that you are a Christian they will be watching to see what makes you different.

Do you have the same attitude as the other children in your school or do you have the attitude of Jesus Christ?

If you are home schooled, it still matters how you finish. What is your attitude in finishing this year? When you share with others about your school days, what things do they hear from you? Are you putting in your best effort even though you don’t have a teacher or your parent checking every detail?

I want to encourage you to really ask God today to help you finish this school year well. Allow God to examine your heart. Is your attitude like Jesus’? Are you putting in your best effort? If not, ask God to change your heart that way. Others will notice and you will be able to tell them why you are able to finish well.
