The Family Of God Shares Life Together

My beautiful friend Audrey has been sharing her experiences through her battle with cancer,  and now she is sharing her journey as she prepares to be with Jesus. There is another sweet friend who lost her son unexpectantly last month. Still another friend who had a miscarriage. My mother-in-law lost her husband and best friend. My husband lost his dad.

Recently there have been three babies born in our church and another one who will be here any day now. My son got his official graduation date for college. There was testimony at church about a marriage restored. I have a friend whose book is ready to be launched.

I met my friend Audrey in my church home, but she moved away and attends another church in Texas. That sweet friend who lost her son is part of a church in another state. My friend who had the miscarriage is part of my church home,

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,  having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,  in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22 (NASB)

We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. We are being fitted together and growing up in the Lord together.

We are to be sharing life together!

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” Romans 12:15 (NASB)

The other morning as I prayed for some of these treasured friends, I began to cry. I felt the sadness and compassion for them, and for all they were going through so intensely, it caused me to weep. I cried for them, but also with them. My heart ached thinking about the pain and the loss. I was able to reach out in different ways, and prayerfully they felt like they had a sister in Christ with them.

I have been blessed to see and meet the new babies; God has brought to our church body. I talked with the woman who shared about how God restored her marriage.  My heart was full of joy and just overwhelming with joy and happiness for these families. It caused me to remember when my children were born and just the beauty of seeing the hard work of marriage bear fruit.

Life is full of different seasons, hardships, and joys.

For some of us, we tend to live within ourselves if we allow ourselves to but we were not created for that. We have been created for relationship. Relationship with God, and relationship with one another. Click To Tweet

Do you tend to live in isolation or do you reach out intentionally to make relationships with others?

Do you tend to sink into yourself when you are going through hard times, or do you reach for prayer and help from others?

Do you live life with your brothers and sisters in Christ?

I encourage you to be intentional with this. Be willing to reach out when you need to. Ask God to help you see those around you who may need some love, encouragement, and prayer. If there is something hindering you from doing this, ask God to reveal what it is and help you with it. Be willing to share life together.

We are a family! We are the family of God! Let’s take care of each other and walk out this life together!
